teaching literature

Learning and development is a social collaborative process

Meaningful learning mostly happens when the students are expose into the activities which required much of their participation. Participating in activities helps them construct their own understanding of the topic being taught and what's good on it, is that learning will last for a long time.
parents, teachers and other adults in the learners environment contribute to the process. They explain, model, assist, give directions and provide feedback to the learner. peers on the other hand, cooperate and collaborate and enrich learning experience.

Out of school experiences should be related to the child's school experience.

I think it is the most common and simple principle of all for I am one of those who are familiar with this kind of principle. I think, I can express my views freely by citing an example.
in reading a short story, we can relate with the story and construct meaningful learning if we are to relate our own experience to the experiences of the main character in the story.

Thisbe and Pyramus

The scene: Finally a day came when they could endure no longer. they decide that, that very night they would try to slip away and steal out through the city into the open country where atlas they could be together in freedom. They agreed to meet at a well known place, The tomb of Ninus.

 The script of the scene:

Pyramus: My dearest thisbe the love of my life,
My desire to witness your beauty drives me crazy.
I curse this wall standing between us
for it forbids me to see your smile that is brighter than sunshine.

 Thisbe: Pyramus,  my love.
            I am with you,
what you feel is what I feel, and thus,
what you think is what I think.
            we're united by love.
this evil wall that divides us cant stop our love
            that is pure and eternal.

Pyramus: The world is against us,
But the Gods of Olympus are with us.
               Let's end this sorrow
               and change this bitter faith,
              let's fly like free birds
              and escape this cage.

 Thisbe: The sound of escape
will put our life at risk,
             but danger would not matter
             for someone like us,
drowned in the lake of pure love.
              Take me with you,
together we will embrace the light of freedom.

Pyramus: When the night crawls
                we'll see eachother
                in the tomb of ninus.
                together hand in hand,
we will witness the first sunrise of freedom.

 Thisbe: Anticipate my comming,
a life without you only promises sorrow

assingment in mythology

" My Philosophy as an Educator. "

" A man without a philosophy is  like a cripple struggling to walk "  (RALPH WALDO EMERSON).
There are many philosophies contributed by many and known  personalities, but among those, the above mentioned is my favorite and created an impact in my heart. Why?.... for the simple reason that I believe with what it implies, which is, every man must have a philosophy that he can hold onto.
That is why, as a future educator, it is my philosophy that.... " A teacher, should posses the skill, values, and knowledge in relation to teaching profession and an absence of just one of those will him/her a non effective teacher.
      Why did I say so?.....
A person may have all the knowledge in this world and might posses all the values needed, yet, It is not enough for him/her to be consider as an effective teacher if he lacks the skill. Because, how can you transfer your knowledge to your learners, if, you don't know the appropriate approach that you can use to make your students understand the subject content? Same with the situation if it is the values or the knowledge that is lacking, it cant still make you an effective teacher.
It can be compared to  the internal organs of the human beings, if one organ malfunctioned, you cant be called healthy, but if all organs are on its perfect conditions and thus, functions well, then your healthy.
Knowledge is the information you pass onto your learners, skills on the other hand, is your tool so you can deliver your discussions well and values is your potion that can make the students be motivated to participate. These three things must come altogether if we aim to become an effective teacher and not just merely teachers.

assignment inteaching literature

version: The story of Promitheus and Epimitheus.

first scene: epimitheus, before making men he gave all the best gifts  to animals, strength and swiftness and courage and shrewd cunning, fur and feathers and wings and shells and the like; until no quality was left for the men , no protective covering and no quality  to make them match for the beast.

Symbolism:
there are two symbolism that can be detected from the first scene

  • first, epimitheus actions, symbolizes favoritism or the act of being Bias , because he almost gave everything to the lower creatures not even thinking the needs of the other creatures(human).

  • 2nd, epimetheus actions just show how careless and how impulsive he was, because he didn't think of anything else or considering other things  in every action he engage in. in other words he symbolizes a person who does not possess critical thinking that made him a not good decision maker.

Real life situation: I can relate this scene to a common issue among siblings, which is jealousy. parents sometimes became bias or show favoritism unintentionally whenever they compare their children towards each other, they praise one and scold the other. this makes the child feels that her parents loves her other siblings more that they love her.

2nd scene:
promitheus then, took over the task of creation  and thought out a way to make mankind superior. He fashioned them in a nobler shape than the animals, Upright like the gods.

Symbolizes:
promitheus actions, symbolizes smartness and creativeness, because he was able to find ways that can make mankind superior than the rest creatures knowing the fact that there was no left for them for almost everything was given to the animals.

Real life situation:
I can compare promitheus to a president who is out to do his obligation and accomplish things though there are many things that may hinder him from doing so. a president like ninoy aquino whose heavy task is to produce projects out of so little budget has to be creative so he will be able to produce the output (economic progress, employment for every Filipino and so on) that he promise us.
