teachimg lit take home exam

Teaching literature.

1.) everyone has met Richard Cory. Someone who suffers inner turmoil but appears outwardly calm . how did you deal with such kind of personality?

I can somehow relate to the kind of personality that Richard Cory has. I myself is somehow like him, the attitude or the behavior I show the public is the opposite of who I am when I’m already alone. Many described me as someone who is strict just because I’m always serious and prefers to be alone very often, but nobody knows what I am when I’m not on their sight. I believe Richard Cory is suffering from sadness, he wants to seek help from people but don’t know how. I can say so because I already experienced that. there are times that I feel so sad and I want to consult people especially my friends about it, I want to tell them why I felt that way but I cant for I am shy, that’s why ending my life is the only solution I see to escape my problem. I’m always thinking of it but has never tried to do it. The only thing that I can Do to deal with this kind of personality is to be strong and try to open myself to people. Its going to be hard specially to someone like me who is not expressive but I have to in order for me to survived.

2.)compare and contrast minever with with Richard cory .minever cheevy is the subject of another robinson poem .

3.) suppose you have already discussed the poem miniver cheevy in your class. construct 4 question that would process students understanding about the theme of the poem.

a.) if you have the freedom to choose when to be born ,what would be the date/time and why?

b.)is it right to live in the memory of the past?

c.)what do you think is the reason why miniver cheevy prefers t live in the past than the present ?

d.)if miniver cheevey will come to you,how are you going to conveince him to accept the present life?

Mythology take home exam

 Mythology

1.) what do you think ids Odysseus worst action of his wanderings and why?

When Odysseus was stuck in the island own by a goddess and he attempted to escape but just once. For me that is the worst action of Odysseus. Yes, he did try to exert effort to get away by attempting to swim the sea at the sight of a boat but what happens next? Did he try to do it again? To leave and return to his wife?
His first attempt to escape failed because the goddess stop him and forbid him from leaving the island. It’s like Odysseus gives up right away  and just accepted his faith. What if the goddess didn’t realize that he needs to return home ? is there a chance for him to be home again and be with his  wife again ? I don’t think so, for me if you want something you will do anything to get it and you wont let any obstacles to hinder you from achieving it because a person who is full of determination will never surrender in any failure but eager to try more and never stop trying until you get what you want.

2.) why is Odysseus  looked to as a powerful representation of the mythic hero?

Odysseus is a man of honor. I think this characteristic of him , made him a powerful representation of a mythic hero. Because he granted his promise that he will return to his wife after the Trojan war and that’s what he did. Despite all the struggles and hardship that he had through , he still manage  to come home though it took him so long. Honor can make one man , a unforgettable and respective hero and that’s what Odysseus is. Another thing that I believe is  considerable in relation to Odysseus as a powerful representation of a mythic hero is that, he was able to overcome struggles brought by two wars that his been through. The first war is the Trojan war where the bravest among the bravest  hero participated and amazingly he survived the war. The second war is the war for his life and family where it centers more with his eagerness  to return to his home  and be with his love ones again. He made it, he was able to make the impossible as possible, knowing the fact that his only human, a mortal with no extraordinary powers but his courage and determination.

3.)using a diagram or a map, compare and contrast the character of Achilles and hector.

Differences

Similarities

4.) is the central conflict of Iliad internal or external?

For my own personal point of view, the central  conflict of the illiad is both external and internal one. It is internal because mellaneus  want his wife back, that is his intention why he entered the war against troy, unfortunately this conflict is what his brother agammemon used to find a reason so he can formally declare war to troy. Obviuosy agammemon decision  to join the war is not because he wants to support his brother to get back his wife  but his want/ambition to expand his territory and to win back a queen . the attitude or the  war liking nature of the Greek people is also the reason why the war  broke out. Greek people have high prides that once their ego is touch they will try to settle it through war. They are war loving people. It seems like one way of showing their enemy how strong they are is by joining war.

reflection of the story beauty and the beast

Beauty and the Beast

this story is said to be one of the greatest story ever told.
the story of "beauty and the beast". the main characters are the title itself.according to the fairy tale, beauty is a very beautiful girl who fall in love with beast, the man who is feared by many because of his scary appearance.
what the story wants us to learned is that, true love sees the beauty within and not the external beauty of a person.meaning, its always the beauty of the heart that matters for it never fades and not the beauty seen by the eye which always ends up old.
in real world specially in our generation today, this kind of love story still do exist yet very seldom cases only. Many of us specially the young ones looks at the physical beauty first before looking at the beauty of the heart. in fact their is a survey conducted by the SWS regarding to the kind of partner that every Filipino people wants to have, the choices are; beautiful but not rich or ugly but rich.
and the result is, many prefers to have a rich but not so good looking man for the pinays. while the Filipino male wants to have a beautiful partner though she is not that wealthy. the result just show that the kindness of the heart is not being valued and often be the second priority.

assignment in mythology

Ma.Remelyn D.Gonzales

Ideas with the love story of thisbe and pyramus

I think there are two opposite sides of theme that you can find in the love story, one is positive and the other one is negative.
the negative side of the story is to fight for your love come what may, so you wont regret anything in the end.the kind of love that thisbe and pyramus have is described as forbidden because the world is against it but despite all, the two still find ways so they can be together again.
unfortunately the negative side of the story focus with death as the main solution to escape the world of grief and pain which is absolutely not right.
whatever problems that may come to your life you still need to be strong and fight, move on with your life. the lovers surrender by killing themselves because of the thought that they already lost eachother.

teaching lit exam

Teaching literature exam.

1.) Discuss how modeling and scaffolding affects in the child learning progress.

Modeling and scaffolding are both teaching methods that aims to turn the child into an independent learner. In modeling, from the word itself “model”, the teacher just show how to do a particular thing or shall I say demonstrate something then after that she let’s her learner to do the same thing all by themselves. While in the case of scaffolding it is more on teacher student collaboration learning. The teacher gives hint or assist the child by starting to do an activity but left it undone because the rest will be continue and finish by her student. Modeling and scaffolding affects the child learning progress in a way that it motivates the child to explore more and discover things by depending only to himself. When a child accomplish something by himself, he will gain confidence and starts to believe that he can do more. One important advantage of being an independent learner is that, what the child learns is said to be meaningful because it was them who learns it and because it is meaningful, the learning cant be easily forgotten because it was stored in their long term memory.

2.) construct a concept map showing the advantages and disadvantages of the transmission approach in teaching lit.

“Transmission approach”
Advantages disadvantages
• Easy to use because of it’s familiarity.
• Applicable to most of the subject matter. • No teacher-student interaction since this method is a teacher centered approach.
• Boring in the side of the learner.
• Not so affective in learning progress because students find its boring.

3.) create your own motivational strategy showing the use of student centered theory to introduce a topic in literature. Discuss how you will implement the strategy. Make your own title and identify the materials to be used.

Strategy title : tell me a story
Materials: 5 pictures

I will prepare five pieces of pictures and ask my students to produce a story out of those five pictures. There are no written text in all the pictures that is why my learners will be force to use their imagination creatively. I will use “palabunutan ” method in selecting the students who will make a story. The main motive of this palabunutan method is to make all the students become attentive and to test their creativeness in a situation that they are not prepared.

mythology exam

Ma.Remelyn D.Gonzales
mythology exam.

what do myths tell us about love.

Myths about love.

there are three things that myths wants to tell us about love.first is, in every relationship it is normal to encounter problems or trials, and like the kind of relationship that two inlove people have, it is normal for them to experience problems or trials.the obstacles that will shower them will test the kind of love they have for each other, if it is real and for eternity or just an admiration that will come and go.if they overcome the trials hand in hand then it means, the love they have is real and everlasting, but if they surrender in the middle of the fight and choose to separate ways to avoid getting hurt more then its not true love.
the second one is, if two people are destined for each other, then no matter what happens,"come what may" at the end of the line it's still the two of them.lots of problems may come and they maybe departed from each others arms but the day will come that, destiny will find a way to make their ways cross again and love will blossom one more time.
The last one is, it is the social status that always become an issue among lovers, which is unfair and not right.People who came from different worlds cant be together because for other people, they are not meant to be. it is always referred as forbidden love, like the love affair of an immortal and a mortal  have, many people will always go  against and could find ways that can departs them.

the relationship between gods and mortals.

Mortals and non mortals

Gods and mortals, the position that each one occupied is not equal, there is always a gap between the two of them. one is of course superior than the other and that is non other than the gods. as what  I have notice, the mortals worship or adore their gods and the Gods think that it is the right  thing to do, but the behavior that most of the gods  have in mythology are not rightheous for they have done something that could harm humans and they do it on purpose.Gods should protect and look after the welfare of human being but it is sometimes them who mostly cause danger to humans, because some of them are selfish and always consider themselves firts before the other which is exactly the opposite of the relationship of human to God that bible teaches us.
